Recently, it’s reported that the Mobileye’s REM i.e road experiment management is going to help for developing level 4 as well as level 5 vehicles, but Chief communications officer of Mobileye and Intel’s Dan Galves told that it will have more interesting and exciting application powering what he and Intel’s official called it as ‘Level2+’ systems.
It is considered to be semi-automated driving features for the vehicles of consumers that make use of existing hardware sensor that available at reasonable price points in today’s era and it can allow driving equivalent to something such as GM’SuperCruise.
Intel sets to start up level 2+ automated driving
Basically, it means that the safely going through the things such as driving in stop & go traffic direction on the congested highways by performing easier braking & acceleration maneuvers as well as taking exact action when they may be able to avoid accidents which a human driver couldn’t perform.
ProPILOT system of Nissan is also synonymous, but Mr. Galves said that when we compared other GM & Nissan’s solution, the version operated by Mobileye and Intel’s tech will be simpler to develop, without requirement of much fundamental work on the part of automakers or specialized components.
Mobileye can perform this by implementing on top of the growing and existing camera based ADAS systems. A large number of cars these days, particularly at higher trim levels are developed with the use of optical cameras associated into their design and often include other sensor hardware too.
These new functionalities of vehicles will start coming to market very soon. Intel revealed that, they have Level 2+ & Level 3+ design contracts with a total of 11 carmakers and these would represent our 50 % of the complete automotive industry taken together, with the cars launching to market both 2018 and through 2019.
